Q: In regards to question number 188 - 'Can a Sunni man can marry
a Shia girl?' The answer was no. Could you please state the area in the Quran or
Hadith
clarifying this? Thank you.
------------------------------------------
A:
It is not permissible for a Muslim male to marry a non-Muslim female. The
ruling excludes marrying a female from the Ahl-e-Kitaab (Christians and
Jews). Kindly refer to marriage to the Ahl-e-Kitaab on this site.
The beliefs of the SHIAs are inconsistent with the fundamental beliefs of
the Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jama'at, therefore they are not Muslims. Kindly refer
to the beliefs of the SHIAs on this site.
And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
Mufti Ebrahim Desai.
