Q:
When a person has an argument with a non Muslim or with a Shia
defending Islam or defending Sahabah, even if it is via the internet, does he
get rewarded?

A: It is Fardh upon every Muslim to defend Islam and the illustrious position
of the Sahabah (RadhiALLAHu Anhum) in every possible way including
electronic mail, etc.
Just as a person is rewarded for fulfilling his Fardh Salat, so too will he
be rewarded for fulfilling the Fardh of defending Islam and the illustrious
Sahabah (RadhiALLAHu Anhum).
